Walworth County Literacy Council

The Walworth County Literacy Council was begun July 1, 2003. The purpose of the council is to help adults in Walworth County achieve their educational goals.

Walworth County Literacy Council (WCLC) provides instruction in basic literacy skills, English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship Preparation, and General Education Degree (GED). Students meet with volunteer tutors at local libraries at a time convenient for the student. The Walworth County Jail Literacy Program instructs inmates in reading, writing, and math. Literacy services are available to adult residents

for Walworth County.

WCLC recently received a grant from the Community Enhancement Fund, a component of the Communnity Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. The grant benefits Walworth County adults who wish to pursue earning their G.E.D. Instruction and materials are free to learners who meet with tutors at the time and location convenient to them.
